About me

Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to build bridges between the Global North and South. Growing up, I witnessed both sides of the coin, experiencing firsthand the complex challenges and opportunities that different regions face. This upbringing has shaped my vision of uniting diverse perspectives to address global challenges, particularly in healthcare, public infrastructure, and sustainability. For me, CityLab is a gateway to making this vision a reality.

I was born and raised in Virginia until 2004, after which I moved to Buenos Aires and lived there until 2011. I then relocated to Brasília, Brazil, where I lived until 2014. My roots are both Bolivian and Italian. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia in International Relations and Political Science. In my free time, I love spending time with family, enjoying nature, and staying active by playing sports or working out. However, the best part of my life is my son, Gianluca Caprirolo.

I am a healthcare, sustainable development, and technology strategist with over eight years of experience in international development, public health, and decentralized innovation. Currently, I am a part-time MBA candidate at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Health Care Management, Innovation & Technology, Data Analytics & Risk Management, and Leadership in the Public & Private Sector.

I’ve had the privilege of working with organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), and the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), where I facilitated large-scale healthcare initiatives. This includes the deployment of over 11,000 physicians for Brazil’s universal healthcare program, ‘Programa Mais Médicos’ (More Doctors Program), as well as executing water management and sustainable agriculture projects that have impacted over a million people.

I have made significant contributions to groundbreaking projects, such as developing a first-of-its-kind movement map to track Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) progress across Canada, and leading a team of 20 researchers in pioneering provincial-scale costing methodologies for British Columbia. My work has earned me recognition, including a United Nations Action Award. Most recently, I have been leading a new paradigm in healthcare innovation through blockchain, AI, and holistic healthcare systems.
